Pricing Barbie Dolls today can be an extremely hard task……. for the collector who has a large prized collection, no amount is too much to pay if they are acquiring a doll or dolls accessory that they need in their collection, especially if it is a rare item.
If collecting dolls is just a small hobby, then you have to think about how much you are prepared to pay for an item, or even if you really need it at this time…… Maybe you can utilize a lay-by scheme or if your bartering skills are great then you may get a bargain!
Always remember that collecting dolls or anything for that matter is just that……. a collection, and for some of us we have to keep it under control.
It is suggested that many dolls if collected and kept over several decades can be worth alot of money, and while this is true of many dolls, every doll is only worth what some one is prepared to pay for it.
Many of the early dolls from 1959 to 1963 are worth alot of money if they are still in good condition, collectors have been known to pay up to and over $2,000 for the number 1 Barbie doll in mint condition.
For many of us, purchasing a number 1 doll in mint condition is out of the question, but that’s not to say that 1 won’t come up one day at an estate sale, auction site or even a garage sale……… Yes I have heard of such cases where someone is selling a grand-parents belongings at a garage sale not realizing some of the rare treasures they may have!
Some rare Barbie dolls have been picked up at a sale for very small amounts of money……… I am still holding out for that day……..!
Pricing Barbie Dolls doesn’t have to be a nightmare, there are alot of good guides out there these days, but remember, always use commonsense and only buy what you really can afford.
